I'M SORRY, MY CHILDREN

My children, I ask you to forgive me,
For I’ll never get you wedded to the love of your life,
For I’m not letting you be the doctor you wish to be ,
Live the college life that creates memories for a lifetime to live.

I ask you to forgive me, my dear children,
I stole your hobbies from you and didn't let you dance in the rain
Gave you no chance to fill your autograph book
With silly nothings from friends that mean life to you.

Your childhood I messed up, sorry my boy and girl,
You never went to your dance classes and learnt the Carnatic tune
The drawing lessons that would hone your creativity
All those lessons that would bring out the human in you.

Pardon me, my children, forever I’ll seek apology
For not gifting you the carefree childhood
Those playful days, paper boats, silly games that only kids play
The fairy tales of Cinderella and her prince, the superman Spiderman tales

I beg you forgive me, dear son and daughter, I’m sorry.
I owe you a life, a grand one, and I’ll make up for this life.
This life, I’m so sorry for not giving you a life
Forgive your mother, oh! The mother I never could be.
